Greece/Santorini: Island of Thirasia
Thirasia is an island that is part of the Santorini caldera and is one of the least developed areas in the entire Greece. Just climbing up to the village on top the cliffs is a brutal affair of hundreds of steps in the scorching sun. Hardly any tourists get up here – and it’s a shame – devoid of hotels and restaurants, this village is pure and authentic with some of the most spectacular blue-domed churches in the entire Santorini, and simple yet still beautiful residential buildings.
