Greenland: Kap Ovibos
Unable to land at the entrance to the Kaiser Franz Joseph Fjord because of dense ice (can’t navigate the zodiacs), we ship-cruised deep into the fjord until the very end, and finally landed at Kap Ovibos on a sandy beach with panoramic views. Alas, the panoramic vies dint last long as the coastal thick fog rolled in very quickly and we had to literally evacuate back to the ship in a total milk of a fog (not the best idea to hike around in the fog in Greenland – it’s polar bear territory after all. Nevertheless, Kap Ovibos was quite pretty, with a lot of Arctic wildflowers, interesting geology, and musk ox tracks and bones.
