Greenland: Redfish Fishing
Deep water redfish is a common fishing target in southern Greenland. They live around 300-1000 meter deep (over a 1000 feet). So fishing involves a long roll of thread that you drop to the sea bottom and then pull on it for a few minutes before rolling it up all the way, all manual labor. And usually the fish is just hanging in it. Since the pressure changes as you pull the fish up, they come out with bloodshot eyes and often they guts bloated and falling out of their mouths – a reminder of what could happen to you if you don’t do proper safety stops when coming up during diving!
