Grenada: Abandoned Pearls Airport
This was perhaps the most interesting and bizarre attraction in Grenada. The airport was abandoned in 1983 when American marines captured during the ill-fated invasion to suppress the budding Socialist regime. The airport was never used since as a new one was built in the south of the island. The old Cuban airliner (actually a Russia-made Antonov plane) is all covered in tropical vegetation; the runway are getting overgrown, and the whole area feels like an apocalyptic post-nuclear site.
