Guadeloupe: Pointe des Chateaux
Pointe des Chateaux (Castle Point) is likely the most spectacular site in Guadeloupe (hello, UNESCO, where are you?). Rough crashing waves smack against sea-stacks jutting out into the Atlantic at the eastern side of Guadeloupe. There is an incredible perfectly crescent beach (although too rough to enter the water). One can also climb to the top of the promontory with a view down in the ocean and island formation (of course I did!). It’s really windy here and the coast looks as the moon surface at times with all the salt erosion. It’s a truly surreal place to explore. And then to top things off – there is a spectacular wide safe sandy beach just north of the seastacks. A coral reef offshore acts as a protecting barrier.
