Guadeloupe: Port-Louis
ort-Louis is a picturesque town in the northwestern part of Grande-Terre part of Guadeloupe The town dates back to the 17th century and was named after King Louis XIV. This was Guadeloupe’s main sugar exporting port for several centuries, and the nearby Domaine de Beauport was the largest factory. The waterfront is beautiful, with many old buildings, including Notre-Dame-de-la-Visitation church.
