Guinea-Bissau: Cacheu Fortaleza
Cacheu is a town in the north of Guinea Bissau, about a two hour drive from the capital. Located the mouth of the Cacheu river, this was one of the key outpost of the Portuguese empire, and the point for slave trade. There is a small but very picturesque 16th century fort here, right of the river bank, with guns and statues all intact. There are no tourists in Guinea-Bissau, in fact I was told I was the first one in two years; and definitely nobody goes this far out of the capital. So I had the entire fort to myself with two local kids posing for all the shots!
