Guinea: Conakry – Around the City
Conakry is both ugly and interesting at the same time. On one hand, it is horribly filthy (trash is piled up pretty much everywhere on the streets), very hectic (between cars and people and goats and trash), overly policed and militarized (I was basically told I can’t photograph anything unless I have a written authorization from the military), and not friendly (people seemed angry and not welcoming and nobody allowed for pictures even of fish and fruits at the markets). On the other hand, it was in many ways very colorful, especially the markets, the people clothes, etc. Sadly, not much got captured on camera. The seafood restaurant “Obama” was a find though!
