Guyana: Parika – Harbor
An hour drive north from Georgetown takes you to the end of the road in the town of Parika. This is a port town and a gateway to the northern Guyana as well as inland via the Essequibo River with its huge delta (it’s the largest river in the region after Amazon and Orinoco). Parika is nothing special of a dusty town except for a busy port with ferries, boats, massive river cargo ships and everything in between. It’s all very messy, equipment very old and semi-broken, trash is everywhere, but it’s an accurate picture of Guyana.
