Iceland: Geysir and Strokkur Geyser Field
There are only 5 geyser fields in the world (Iceland, Yellowstone, Kamchatka, Rotoroa, and Chile). Geysir was actually the first geyser ever destined and hence the English name for it. It’s a actually a field of about a dozen geysers of which Strokkur is the most active, erupting every 4-8 minutes with a fountain of scalding water and steam. It’s an amazing phenomenon – water swirled in the geyser pool, then a massive bubble forms, and then explodes upwards, draining the pool that starts the refilling process right away.
