Iceland: Reykjanes Peninsula Lighthouses
The Reykjanes Peninsula is a rugged volcanic extension of land jutting into the North Atlantic from southwest Iceland. It has long been a hazardous stretch of coastline due to its strong currents, frequent storms, and many cliffs. This has made it home to around 13 lighthouses, more than any other region in Iceland, serving as beacons for ships navigating toward Reykjavík and Keflavík harbors. Most date back to the late 19th and early 20th centuries and are super picturesque, often bright orange and stunning against the black lava or green land. We visited 6 different lighthouse – Holmsberg Lighthouse, Gardur Old and New Lighthouses, Sandgerdi Lighthouse, Stafnesviti Lighthouse, Reykjanes Lighthouse, and the Hopsnes Lighthouse/
