Iceland: Thingvellir National Park
To be honest, Thingvellir National Park is rather underwhelming given the immence variety of Iceland’s attractions. But it is an important historical locale and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. From the geological point of view – the park is located in the rift valley dividing two tectonic plates. This was also the site of Althing, the Icelandic parliament established in 930 AD, making this the first European parliament.
