India: Aurangabad Caves
Just outside Aurangabad are the Aurangabad Caves – another 1000+ year old rock-hewn caverns. The 13 caves have many carved out statues and columns and cave monasteries with buddhas, but overall they pale in comparison with the much more grand Ajanta Caves (see post 62) and Elora Caves (coming soon). They are usually off the tourist track, but I believe in exploring everything so here we are.
