India: Exploring Kalkutta
Kalkuta’s relatively compact colonial core lends itself well for exploration, as do several other neighborhoods like Maidan, and along the Park Street. Taxis are everywhere and subway is cheap albeit crowded like sardines in a can. The Colonial part is full of aging colonial buildings, and various government offices occupying them, while Maidan is more about open spaces, monuments, and rising skyscrapers. Just roaming around is fun – it’s loud, busy, tuk tuks competing with taxis, people eating in the streets, and occasional cows and goats roaming around.
