India: Hindu Temples in Goa
While Old Goa and Panaji are all about the faded Portuguese 16th centuries cathedrals and churches, there about a dozen or more ultra-colorful Hindu temples peppering the hills above the old Portuguese towns. I hit five of them – Shri Nageshi Temple, Maxalakshmi Temple, Shri Shantadurga Temple, Shri Ramnathi, and Ganesh Temple. Bright entrance arches, towering white stupas, and loads and loads of painted deities singing and dancing on every wall. Inside, photography is not allowed, but there it’s an even more festive atmosphere. I felt like a Bollywood-style music video is about to break loose at any moment!
