Indonesia: Java – Climbing Gunung Bromo Volcano
After seeing the sunrise, it’s time to climb Mount Bromo and peek into the bottomless crater. The volcano is 2,329 m (7,641 ft) high and steep trail leads to rim from where you can look down in the smoldering caldera as well as have a 360 panorama of volcanic features and other peaks. The volcano is active and last erupted in January 2011. The crater’s floor is actually deeper than the caldera floor outside. and there is a steaming lake down at the bottom. God forbid you misstep – there is no stopping you all the way into the hell hole.
