Indonesia: Java – Mendut & Pawon Temples

These two Buddhist temples, Mendut and Pawon, are located not far from the Borobudur and both are worth a quick exploration. Interestingly, the three temples form a straight line. Mendut dates to 824 AD and is the oldest of the three. Pawon is the second time-wise, while Borobudur is the youngest. On a full moon, a religious procession of Indonesian Buddhists follows the straight line between in the temples in an elaborate ceremony.
