Iran: Amir Chakhmakh Complex in Yazd

This beautiful architectural complex originally served as a mere bazaar portal. The three-story facade is now one of the most recognizable building in Iran. Three layers of sunken alcoves culminate with a mosque in the middle. Behind and around the building are several caravanserai and the bazaar.
