Iran: Jame Mosque in Yazd
Jame Mosque in Yazd dates back to the 12th century and is one of the finest examples of Islamic and Persian architecture. It’s dual minarets are the highest in Iran. The iwan portal’s facade is decorated from top to bottom in dazzling blue tiles. But then it gets even more decorated and excuisite once you go inside – the detail of the tilework and wall and ceiling decorations are just beyond surreal.
