Iran: Karim Khan Citadel in Shiraz

Citadel or Arg of Karim Khan is a major fortress, replete with massive walls and towers, in downtown Shiraz. It was built during the reign of Karim Khan in 1766 and was mostly used as the king’s living quarters. The walls are 12m high and the bulbous towers are 14m high. Inside the fortress is historical museum.
