Iran: Vank Cathedral in Isfahan
Vank Cathedral is an incredible Armenian Church Cathedral in Isfahan in Iran. The cathedral was built by Shah Abbas I in 1606 for the Armenian refuges escaping the horrors of spreading Ottoman Empire. The interior of the cathedral is truly beyond amazing with fresco and gilded paintings depicting the Biblical story of the creation of Eden and expulsion of man for the sins. There is a large belfry in the courtyard built in a traditional Armenian architectural style.
