Israel: Capernaum & Tabgha Churches
There are so many religious sites in Israel that I will have to lump some together. Close to each other on the shores of the Sea of Galilee are three biblical sites: first is Capernaum – the town that Jesus supposedly lived in and is mentioned over and over in the Bible. Today is has some Roman ruins in it as well as the ruins of an ancient synagogue. Not far from Capernaum is the Church of Multiplication commemorating the miracle of the multiplication of the loaves and fishes (this is where Jesus fed 5 thousand people with 5 loaves of bread and 2 fish – which comes out to 0.001 loaves of bread and 0.0004 fish per person). And right next to this church is the Church of the Primacy of St. Peter – the place where Jesus appeared for the forth time after resurrection – a nice waterfront site with great views. And perhaps a bit too much religious concentration for my taste.
