Israel: Old Town of Jaffa
Jaffa is just two kilometers south of Tel Aviv, but is totally different. Occupying a rocky promontory, this is one of the oldest continually inhabited towns on Earth, going back to the over 7500 years BC! It was always an important port for trade between Middle East and Egypt. And then the town is mentioned as part of pretty much any other civilization since. It’s a small town high on the rocky hill overlooking the Tel Aviv beaches to the north and the old port to the south. Several historic mosques and churches are within mere meters of each other. Beautifully restored and maintained, the town is pleasant to explore and discover on foot.
