Italy: Florence – Uffizi Gallery
And last but definitely not least of the Florence attractions – the world-famous Uffizi gallery, featuring the world’s largest collection of priceless paintings and sculptures of the Renaissance. Two endlessly long floors of galleries with dozens of side rooms and halls displaying works by Boticelli, Leonardo da Vinci, Caravaggio, Rafael, Titian, Rembrandt, and many, many others. There are a lot of gems here, and even an artistically-uneducated person (not me anymore after visiting Uffizi) would surely run into paintings that are famous the world over. Seemingly the biggest attraction at Uffizi is Botticelli’s “The Birth of Venus” (the 15th century version of “Wonderwoman”). And right next to it hangs the other Botticelli masterpiece – “Primavera”.
