Italy: Parma – Baptistery
Next to the Cathedral in Piazza del Duomo stands the massive octagonal pink marble Baptistery dating to 12th century, half Romanesque and half Gothic. Inside there are sixteen arches with alcoves with either religious paintings or relief frescos, all painted and made in the 12-13th century! The ceiling is equally stunning as all the alcoves converge together, with more painting and biblical stories.
