Italy: Ravenna – More Mosaics & Around the Town
There are three more sites in Ravenna with spectacular mosaics. Sant’Apollinare Nuovo is a 6th century basilica with a single large nave with mosaics depicting historical and religious scenes. Ariani Baptistery is another site – it’s very small but inside has stunning mosaics depicting the Baptism of Christ. Finally, the Neonian Baptistery is yet another absolutely mind-blowing mosaic-covered building. And just walking around Ravenna – you can admire many other unique sites; from a leaning tower to Dante’s Mausoleum.
