Italy: Rome – Pantheon
The Pantheon is the best preserved temple from the ancient Roman empire, built almost 2000 years ago in 27-14 BC by Augustus. The circular building has a portico adorned with Corinthian columns in front. The height of the building is the same as the diameter, creating a perfect dome inside with an oculus in the center which serves as the only source of light. In front of the Pantheon is the Fontana del Pantheon.
