Italy: Treviso
Treviso is often called “Lottle Venice” – it also has canals cross-crossing it, many pretty bridges over these canals, medieval walls and gates, and plenty of renaissance architecture. Treviso dates back to Roman times and was known as Tarvisium. Main sights include Piazza dei Signori with its Palazzo dei Trecento, and the Cathedral of San Pietro with elevators frescoes. Treviso is also the birthplace of Tiramisu!
