Italy: Verona
Verona is a medium size city in the region of Veneto and boasts several spectacular historical attractions, most are UNESCO. The Roman Amphitheater built by the Romans in the first century AD is amazingly well preserved, still functioning for concerts and is a sight to see. Other points of interest include Juliet’s House – the balcony that inspired Romeo and Juliet, Castelvecchio – a massive red brick medieval castle with turret towers and defensive walls along the river bank, and the Piazza del Erbe with a beautiful Lamberti Tower.
