Ivory Coast: Ivory Coast Food Recap
Similar to other West African countries – it’s stewed chicken and fish smothered in ultra-spicy palm nut oil sauce – sometimes so hot that you have no clue what you are eating (the stew is called kedjenou and is one of the most popular dishes in the Ivory Coast). Cassava and plantains grilled or mashed accompany almost everything – and are super delicious. Alloco is the dish of over-ripe bananas fried in palm oil – we couldn’t get enough of this with every meal. Rice and okra are also very common. And grilled goat leg from the market in Doala was fantastic.
