Japan/Honshu: Mount Fuji

An iconic site of Japan – Mount Fuji – is perfectly-shaped stratovolcano rising to 3776m (12389 ft). It is considered active and erupted last time in the 18th century (perhaps overdue for another bout). It is almost full snow-clad in the middle of the winter and looks spectacular against the blue sky. A cable car takes you to the higher ground for some stunning views.
