Japan/Hokkaido: Mt Usu Crater & Ropeway
Mount Usu is a stratovolcano and one of the most active volcanoes in Japan, it erupted 4 times in the last 100 years, including in 2000 when it partially blew off its top. A cable car takes you up to the crater rim from where you can see the steaming crater and Lake Toya down below. There are also more distant views of the Hokkaido southern coastline and more volcanoes on the horizon.
