Japan/Honshu: Arashiyama – Togetsukyo Bridge

Arashiyama is also famous for its scenery. The historic 155m long wooden Togetsukyo bridge spans the Katsura River and the nearby lake, a place of scenic beautify of bamboo forests and mountains. As far back as the eighth century, Japanese aristocrats often came to this area of rice fields and bamboo woods to enjoy foliage colors and Sakura blooms in the fall and spring, as well as to go boating. The place still has that old-times feel.
