Kamchatka (Russia): Flying to and from the Valley of the Geysers
There is a lot to see on the flight to and from the Valley of the Geysers. On top of the beautiful panoramas of mountains and green forests, the helicopter swings around two spectacular attractions – the Maly Semyachik Volcano Crater Lake and the Karymsky Volcano. Karymsky Volcano is one of the most active volcanoes in Kamchatka, belching fumes of ash and smoke as the helicopter makes several circles around its cone. The Maly Semyachik Volcano Crater Lake is a stunning acidic lake (about half a kilometer wide and is 140m deep) filling out the caldera inside yet another volcanic cone. The temperature in this sometimes turquoise sometimes green lake ranges between 27C-42C, with the liquid being closer to hydrogen chloride acids than water.
