Kamchatka (Russia): Red Caviar & Salmon

Kamchatka is the only place in the world where all seven species of salmon come to spawn: pink (gorbusha), sockeye (nerka),  coho (kizhutch), chum (keta), chinook (chavycha), steelhead and cutthroat. The shelves in the food stores are full of fresh fish, as well as plenty of smoked salmon of all types. And then there is red caviar – fresh or salted – sold by massive kilogram-worth buckets! And some crazy vodka to wrap it all up…
