Kazakhstan: Exploring Boszhira
Continuing with the exploration of the amazing Boszhira badlands, it took us almost 1.5 to descent down to the floor of it from escarpment edges, several thousand feet lower. After exploring the strange landscape of snow-white sands and chalk with deposits of crystallized minerals, petrified shells, and bizarre plants, we set up camp for the night right beneath the Boszhira spires and towers and surrounded by all this otherworldliness. One of the most famous natural rock formations in the Bozshira badlands is the so-called Klyki of Boszhira, while literally means Fangs of Boszhira. The two fangs rise over 200m/600fr from the desert floor, and everything is sparkling white chalkstone. A truly iconic place and a must see white exploring the totally surreal Boszhira canyons and plateau badlands in Mangistau in Western Kazakhstan. As the cold night fell (below freezing), the sky became beyond amazing with the Milky Way full of stars running right through the heart of it, Venus shining bright, but also Jupiter and Saturn right next to each other, loads of bright constellations, and even Neptune and Uranus (not visible but still above out tent)!
