Kazakhstan: Kyzylorda
Kyzylorda is the only town of size (250k population) is the otherwise empty central quarter of Kazakhstan. It actually briefly served as Kazakhstan’s capital in the entry 1920s. It was known as Perpvsk under statist Russian and was renamed into Kyzylorda under the Soviet rule. Attractions here include the Ak Mechet (White Mosque) and Russian Orthodox Kazan Cathedral. There is also an unremarkable central market l and a few monuments here and there. The city is located along the Syrdarya River flowing north into the drying Aral Sea.
