Kazakhstan: Lake Burabay aka Borovoye

Lake Borovoye (or Burabay as it has been renamed in Kazakh) is supposed to be a very beautiful area of northern Kazakhstan at the foothills of Mount Kokshe with rolling hills, blue lakes, a lot of boulders all around, and great vistas. Some consider it to be the premier resort area of the country. And while it does look very different from the surrounding flat steppe and has some scenic aspects to it, it’s way overrated and is rather a tourist trap then a must-see destinations.
