Kenya: Amboselli NP – Elephant Herds
Amboselli National Park is world famous for its elephant herds and many elephants with massive tusks. In fact – it’s considered the best place in Africa to observe and get close to elephants. Over 1600 individuals roam the wetlands, flat savanna and small woodlands of this spectacular ecosystem at the foot of Mount Kilimanjaro. These are also the most studied elephants in the world. Herds of up to a 100 can be seen here, in fact we saw several in the 70-80s. Huge females with little babies in tow, and single massive males leading or following the herds – you are guaranteed to see the elephants up-close and personal as well as in panoramic setting with the mountain behind.
