Kenya: Mount Suswa Conservancy – Caving in Lava Tubes

Mount Suswa is not just the view of the double crater, but some extreme adrenaline-spiking activities – like caving in remote lava tube caves. You come here at the end of the day near dusk for two reasons – hundreds of baboons come to the caves to hide for the night from predators and millions of bats fly out. But exploring caves is spectacular on its own – the caves are massive and have many open roof skylights, huge openings and boulders all over (need to be quite surefooted in here). We didn’t see that many baboons (perhaps because of many jaguars in the area as our Masai guide informed us. When asked if it was dangerous – he assured us no to worry as he had a stick to fight with jaguars. Very reassuring).
