Kiribati: Driving around South Tarawa
Driving is around Tarawa is about 32km on a road from one end to another – on one side it’s the end of the atoll, and on the other side it’s a channel to the North Tarawa without a bridge. Along the way, there are many small settlements (or more like it’s one never ending settlement) and most of the time you can see both the lagoon and the open ocean and the reef on both sides of the road at the same time. Several pretty churches dot the roadside, and the impressive parliament building is the nation’s symbol resembling a boat.
