Kiribati: Tarawa Lagoon
Tarawa atoll is the most populated of all the Kitibati islands and the capital is here. The atoll consists of many islets and is roughly divided into South Tarawa (several islands connected by causeways and a road), and North Tarawa (connected by nothing with no roads). And all these islands encircle an insanely blue lagoon. While not particularly good to swim in – the water is somewhat stale and bottom is muddy – the views are just stunning. The lagoon is very shallow and subject to tides exposing the floor, but at full tide it looks particularly beautiful from any vantage point you pick.
