Kiritimati: Boobies & Boat Cruising
Juvenile brown and red-footed boobies accompanied the boat around the vast Kiritimati Lagoon pretty much the entire time, circling above and landing on the rooftop – you could almost hand feed and touch them. The juveniles probably haven’t learned to fish properly yet, but they are super inquisitive and exploring the boat and hitching rides across the lagoon was clearly the thing they all wanted to do.
