Kodiak Island: Flying over Kodiak Island

Kodiak is mostly roadless and all the transportation to the remote parts is by the floatplanes that land in many inland lakes. The flight to the Fraser Lakes (where the Kodiak bears are) was a 1 hour long insanely scenic flight over the island with all the bays and peninsula, and snow capped mountains and glaciers and rivers, and a lot of green beneath the clouds. Even spotted mountain goats on the slopes twice! Kodiak Island is the second largest islands in the USA and the 80th largest in the world, slightly bigger then Cyprus. It’s nicknamed Emerald Isle, which is clearly the case as can be seen from the pictures – miles and miles of untamed total wilderness.
