Kodiak Island: Fort Abercrombie State Park
Fort Abercrombie State Park is supposedly a historic park protecting some WWII ruins like coastal defence guns and fortifications, but it’s really much more of a scenic natural park with stunning high cliffs, black sand and pebble beaches, and panoramic views. There’s also plenty of salmonberry to feast on along many hiking trails. Kodiak has temperate climate and massive moss covered trees resemble the rainforests of British Colombia and Washington state rather then the stereotypical Alaska.
