Kurils: Sailing from Kunashir to Iturup
It’s a 14-hour overnight ship journey from the southernmost Kunashir Island to its northern neighbor Iturup. Russian “Akademik Farhutdinov” is not the most modern or comfortable (in fact, more like the opposite on both points), but the journey is fairly smooth and the scenery on arrival to Iturup was beautiful with full sunshine and the volcanoes in distance.
