Kyrgyzstan: Arslanbob
Arslanbob is an elevated oasis, the world’s largest grove of walnuts. Walnut trees are hundreds of years old and supposedly from the times of Alexander the Great when he came to the valley. He later took the nuts to plant them in Greece and since the nut became known as “Greek nut”, which is rather a misnomer.Every year over 1500 tons of walnuts are harvested here (as well as wild apples, pistachios, cherry plums, and more).
