Kyrgyzstan: Karakol & Red Cliffs Of Jeti Oguz
Karakol is a city in the eastern Kyrgyzstan not far from the Chinese border. It is the fourth largest in the country, which ain’t much given its population is only 66k people. Two religious attractions are worth visiting here: the Dungan Mosque built in 1904 without a single nail, and the Holy Trinity Russian Orthodox Cathedral from 1876, a testament to the Russian expansion out east. Just outside the city are the Jeti Ozug Red Rocks, a natural park covering a gorge of flaming red cliffs.
