Lampedusa: 35th Parallel & Coastline

Lampedusa is Italy’s southernmost island and the 35th parallel runs through it. There is a monument along the Strada Panoramica (main road around the island) that commemorates Lampedusa’s unique geographical position at the 35th parallel, which places it closer to Africa (113 km from Tunisia) than to mainland Sicily (205 km).
