Lampedusa: Capo Grecale Lighthouse
Faro di Capo Grecale (Capo Grecale Lighthouse) is a historic and iconic lighthouse located on the northeastern tip of Lampedusa. It sits on stiff cliffs at the easternmost point of island, overlooking the Strait of Sicily. The lighthouse is 82 m (269 feet) above sea level. Built in 1855, the lighthouse features a 19-meter (62-foot) tall octagonal tower with a balcony and lantern. It is an active lighthouse, fully automated, and managed by the Italian Navy. Spectacular panoramic views can be had from the lighthouse grounds – awesome rugged coastline.
